Demonstrating Austin’s strong commitment to the French game, the competition will take place just one month after the HOT pétanque club’s annual tournament mid-April.

The first Singles Tournament in Austin just finished. Twenty two players showed up. It was a fabulous day. We started at 8:30 am and finished by 3:30 pm. Even so, the games were not timed and played up to 13 points. That was great, because we had a full day of petanque and still went home early. The winner is Clark Orwick from the famous Ded Bob Show. I taught the game to my friend Clark about 15 years ago. He kept on playing casually at every Renaissance Faire where he performs. But today he showed his talent and left no chance to any of us. He won against some of the top players in Texas. The final was against Rick Armstrong. “We are going to have our first Singles Open Tournament in Austin”, announced the Heart of Texas Pétanque Club.
The competition will take place on May 31st at the Hangar (in the Mueller development).
