Because a lot of people are on vacation, there won’t be an Alliance française d’Austin apéritif tonight, nor an InterFrench netwroking event next week (as they usually takes place, respectively on the first Monday and Wednesday of every month). And because I will be travelling that week, there won’t be a French Friday on the third week of the month this month.
But July will anyway be a great month for French speakers and French language and cultures lovers, since it’s Bastille Day month, and Austin is ready to celebrate in style. See my previous post, dedicated to Bastille Day, for details!
And I just updated French in Austin’s calendar with more events, such as Austin Film Society’s Mia Hansen-Love Selects series, beginning tonight with a screening of The Mother and the Whore (La maman et la putain), and concluding Friday July 10th (just before Bastille Day celebrations begin) with a screening of Mia Hansen-Love’s Eden. (followed by a discussion in French hosted by Freestyle Language Center, that is giving away free tickets on their Facebook page for each of the screenings of the Mia Hansen-Love Selects series).
Summer is as francophile as usual in Austin!
