French crime masterpiece The connection at the Alamo Drafthouse

Beyond summer blockbusters, “you also have the option to check out an incredibly unique and special film, the Austin debut of the next Drafthouse Films release: THE CONNECTION”, informs Alamo Drafthouse founder and CEO Tim League in the company’s latest newsletter.
la-french-sd1“Based on a true story and a bookend to William Friedkin’s THE FRENCH CONNECTION, this French crime thriller is set in Marseilles in the late ’70s disco era and follows Academy Award winner Jean Dujardin as a police magistrate hellbent on finally shutting down the “French Connection” heroin trade for good.
The film was made by first-time director Cédric Jimenez, who is currently in Hollywood being courted heavily for his American studio directorial debut.
Watch THE CONNECTION this week and, when he makes it big next year, you can be part of the elite crowd who are in the know early about this raw, amazing new talent.”
Since In the Name of my Daughter is still screening at Regal Arbor 8 @ Great Hills, this makes for a nice historical French Riviera combo!
