D-Day 70th anniversary in Austin

“D-Day veterans Robert Bearden and Johnny Marino will participate in a panel discussion following a screening of the new IMAX 3D film D-Day: Normandy 1944 at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 N. Congress Ave.”, announced Texas General Land Office.

People interested must RSVP by calling (512) 936-4649 or online.

“There will also be an interactive Voices of Veterans display on the 2nd floor [of the museum], where moviegoers may hear recollections of combat veterans – from WWII to Iraq – and learn about preserving their stories for future generations,” adds the General Land Office.

“The event is sponsored by the Texas VLB’s Voices of VeteransTM oral history program.”

“The panel discussion portion of the event is free,” and so is the movie for “all veterans and active military personnel.” Cost is $7 to $9 for others. You must reserve your seat online or by calling (512) 936-4649.
