French in Austin offers news-oriented French conversation classes
by a native French speaker who’s also a profesional journalist (the author of this website)
for French speakers who need to practice their language skills
in North or Central Austin
on weekday evenings or Saturdays.
Each week, prior to the weekly meeting, each participant receives a French-speaking newsletter comprising four French-speaking news items selected to generate debate.
Read the May 26th example.
Then, during the class, each one of the four topics is debated after a quick presentation by one of the students, who take turns to present and speak.
To conclude the session, each participant is invited to share a French-speaking news that interested them during the week.
Following the class, Cécile then let students know which language aspects they need to review, based on what she heard during the session.
Cost is $20 per person per session. Minimum two French speakers must register for the class to enable Cécile to give it.
Not sure you speak enough French to take the class? Learn if you meet the requirements to register for it by taking the 1h Centre international d’études pédagogiques (CIEP) test.
